FAQs

What type of heating oil do I need?

Although some domestic boilers use gas oil, the vast majority of oil-fired boilers and cookers are fuelled by kerosene, also known as burning oil. Kerosene is most commonly used in homes and is more efficient, so if your boiler takes either oil, it’s usually worth going for this one. In cold weather it is unlikely to ‘wax up’ (form crystals that stop it from flowing as easily) in typical UK winter temperatures.

Check your boiler or tank for more information.

How can I check how much heating oil I have?

Most tanks are fitted with a sight gauge – a slim transparent tube through which you observe the level of oil contained within the tank – or an electronic gauge. You can also check your oil levels by lifting the lip and using a stick to dip the tank.

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver to warm homes throughout Oxfordshire, Cotswolds, South Warwickshire, South Northants and West Buckinghamshire.

Will you be able to access my tank?

Our trucks have a reach of around 150ft. Our drivers appreciate clear and easy access to your tank!

How long does delivery take?

Delivery speeds depend on the time of the year – as you can imagine, the winter is our busiest time! All of our deliveries are typically done within the week, although we may take longer at Christmas and times of extreme cold.

Help, I’ve run out of heating oil! How soon can you deliver to me?

We understand that accidents happen! If you have run out we will endeavour to get there within 24 hours. For existing customers, we will try our best to get there the same day.

Do I need to purchase additives?

For certain appliances, you may need to use additives in your heating oil to help it burn better. We supply two different types of additives – one for Agas and Rayburns, and one for boilers – available for approximately £10 per 1,000 litres of fuel ordered. If you’re unsure, give our office a call on 01869 340202 for more information.

Why do fuel prices change every time I order?

The price you pay for your oil is directly influenced by the wholesale price we pay, which fluctuates on a daily basis. We do offer a discount for larger orders, please call the office on 01869 340202 for our latest heating oil prices.
